The Nemaha Central Middle School football team was excited to play Doniphan West on Monday, October 2. For this game, the Thunder had to play 8 man instead of their usual 11 man. The Thunder's Blake Korber scored on the first play of the game with a 50 yard run. Just a little while after, Korber went for another touchdown. NC capitalized on the touchdown and got the two point conversion. Doniphan West only scored one touchdown in the first quarter, therefore the ending score of the first quarter was 14-8.

Right away in the second quarter, Sam McWilliams made an interception which led to scoring a touchdown and getting the two point conversion for the Thunder team. The Mustangs then scored a touchdown, but did not connect on the two point conversion. A little while after that McWilliams scored another touchdown ending the quarter 30-14.

At the start of the third quarter, Korber got a touchdown for the Thunder. The Thunder team then went for the two point conversion and made it. A couple minutes after that, Cooper Hajek went in for the touchdown and NC added the two point conversion to their score. The Mustangs were trying to keep up as they added a touchdown of their own at the end of the quarter, but they were unable to convert the extra points. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 46-20, with a big Thunder lead.

In the fourth quarter the Thunder rolled into a victory. Korber made another touchdown, Messiah Nolte had an interception, and Hajek scored a touchdown. The Thunder had a fantastic defense causing the Mustangs not to score at all in the last quarter. The final score was 60-20. The Thunder has only one game left of the season with a 5-1 record. They have learned a lot this season and have had lots of fun playing football.

Jonathan Player said, "Playing against Doniphan West was fun and exciting. I think we played really strong and we worked really hard."

Preston Koch said, "I think that this was one of the funnest games we've played this season. It was one of the highest scoring games we have played so far."
