On Monday, October 2, the Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team hosted a triangular at Nemaha Central High School. The teams that played were the Wetmore Cardinals, Doniphan West Mustangs, and the Nemaha Central Thunder. In the first match, the Thunder's A-team played against the Wetmore Cardinals. The Thunder A-team started off strong defeating the Cardinals in the first set with a score of 25-10.  In the second set, the Cardinals picked up their game and gave NC a battle for the set.  NC was ready for the battle and game up victorious in the set 25-21.

The first match the B-team played was with the Doniphan West.  The Thunder B-team won the match in 3 sets.  The first set was a close set and the Thunder team was able to hang on for the win, 25-19.  In the second set, the Mustangs played well and they were able to get the win 25-15.  The third set was going to be a great matchup for the teams with both teams winning a set.  The Thunder played well and got the win 15-7.  The C-team also challenged Doniphan West.  Even though the girls tried hard, they were not able to get the win.  They lost the first set 25-9 and the second set 25-10.

The next match-up for the Thunder A-team was with Doniphan West.  The Thunder team was in for a tight set, but it came out in their favor with an extra point needed at 26-24.  In the second set, the Thunder girls dominated the court as they got the match win with this set with a score of 25-10.

The B-team for NC then played Wetmore.  In the first set, they battled with the Cardinals and were able to get the set to go their way with a score of 25-22.  The second set was about the same as the Thunder team was able to get the match win by claiming the second set 25-20.

“I think that our team did amazing. We did very well at returning the other team's passes," said Jillian Stueve.

Keirsten Huerter said, “My favorite part about the games on Monday was that the B-team won both of their games and I got to play and have lots of fun.”
