The Nemaha Central Thunder hosted a volleyball quad on Monday, September 18. The Marysville Bulldogs, the Falls City Tigers, and the Saints Peter and Paul Trojans all came to play in the quad. For their first match, NC played the Tigers from Falls City.  The first set was really close, but Falls City came out on top 21-25. The second set was a blowout with NC rebounding from their first set loss, taking the second set 25-8. NC had forced the match into a third set, but it was still not enough to be victorious as the Thunder lost the set, 7-15.

The second match of the night was with their cross-town rival SPPS.  This is the third time the two teams have played each other with each team getting a win. Both teams played some great volleyball and NC barely won the first set 25-22.  The second set was not as close, but the volleys were intense and NC was able to pick up the match win 25-19.

The last opponent the Thunder team would face was the Marysville Bulldogs.  The first set was close, but Marysville was able to claim the set 25-20.  In the second set, NC had better control of the volleyball and was able to win 25-17.  The third set was another exciting set of volleyball with the Thunder winning the set to add another win to their record with the score of 15-8.

"I think that we played good, but we could have done better against Falls City.  However, we came back and beat the other teams," said Lacie Young.

"I thought our last two games against SPPS and Marysville went very well.  They were both very good teams and we were able to come out on top.  I was impressed with a few blocks by Rachel Schmitz, our hits, and defense," said Coach Nikki Honeyman.
