The volleyball team at Nemaha Central Middle School headed down to Centralia on Thursday, September 19 for another exciting game of the season. The NCMS volleyball team was nervous playing against Centralia because they're usually pretty good at the sport of volleyball. Both schools have very strong athletic programs in volleyball.

The A-team started off the first game very impressive digging a lot of hits. It was noticeable that when the first few points went to the Thunder team, the Panthers were down that they didn't get the points.   The Thunder team was on a roll and they continued to play well to get the first set win with an impressive 25-5 victory. The second set of the A-team match was another great set for the Thunder team.  The Thunder girls were able to execute several plays with quite a few hits. Overall the A-team got there serves over and had lots of serving streaks, while the Panthers struggled to return the ball.  The Thunder went on to win the second set 25-11.  The NCMS A-team overall did a 'Thunderous Job' and are excited for the next game of the season.

Ella Larkin said, "I felt relieved that we had won, since I expected it to be a very difficult game. Overall I think we played very well."

The B-team started their first set off strong. The Thunder got lots of serves over and had lots of serving streaks like the A-team winning it 25-17. In the second set, the Thunder girls started to get down.  They made quite a few small mistakes and were unable to overcome them as they lost the set, 9-25. Then the match went into a third set. The Thunder team came out strong trying to get the match win. In this set though, they missed several serves which took them out of the set.  The Panthers went on to win this one 25-12.  Overall they learned a lot from their experience on the court with the Panthers.

"I think our team did better than I expected. Everyone did great, I can't wait for the next game," said Mia Schmitz.

As the volleyball season nears the end, the girls have had a lot of fun and have improved their skills over the season.
