Grandparents gathered in the Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School gymnasium on Friday, September 8 for the annual Grandparents’ Day celebration. The program started with kindergarten and second grade singing songs for their grandparents. Next, the third graders presented a slide show about what they are going to do when they are grandparents. Finishing up the student portion of the program was the fourth and fifth graders singing some more songs.

After the singing portion, a game of “Would you Rather” with questions like “Would you rather be a horse or a kangaroo?”  or “Would you rather eat a cricket or a worm?” was played. After a couple of questions there was a brain break where grandparents were invited to sing and dance along with their grandchildren and then the game continued with two more brain breaks.

After the game, a book was read by students in kindergarten through fifth grade. To finish up the program, the students could take their grandparents to show them around their classrooms. When the classroom tour finished up, children and their grandparents left the school with bright smiles upon their faces

Odette Helm said, “You know let me tell ya, I almost cried. I loved how the grandparents put their grandchildren first. I was very impressed with the turnout!”

“My favorite part was singing!” said Corabelle Langill.

Cali Honeyman said, “I enjoyed having my grandparents here at school with me!”

The annual Grandparents’ Day  was a big success! We hope to have another program just as great next year!
