Fab families were started last year in 2016 at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School. These families are made up of students and staff from kindergarten through eighth grade. The focus of these family meetings is to give students a staff member they feel safe to talk to and develop social skills. Every year the families stay the same but the eighth graders leave and a kindergartner joins.

The first Fab family meeting was held on Friday, August 18 and was a chance for family members to meet and learn about the solar eclipse. Families watched a video and made a solar eclipse diagram. Students also filled out a “time capsule” questionnaire that will buried and dug up in 2045 when the next solar eclipse comes through Kansas.

Meg Honeyman said, "I like my Fab family teacher."

"I get to learn about the other students in my Fab family," said Savannah Engelken.

Mrs. Carole Sperfslage said, "I get to know the students on a personal note."
