On Thursday, January 19, the Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team crushed Falls City. Both A-team and B-team had great games for the Thunder team and were victorious.

The A-team had a fantastic game. In the first quarter, the Thunder scored 12 points, while Falls City scored only 3 points. During the second quarter, NC scored a total of 13 points, making this their best quarter. The second quarter was also Falls City's best quarter, with them scoring a total of 8 points on the Thunder. The girls then took their half time break and discussed plays. The Thunder then came back for their third quarter. In the third quarter, our girls scored another 12 points, while Falls City scored 5. This made the score 37-16. The Thunder keep battling, and so did Falls City. The fourth quarter began and all the girls fought as hard as they could for the win. Falls City scored 6 more points, and the Thunder scored 8! The final score was 45-22. The Thunder stole another win!

"We had an advantage because it was their first game. We played really well and played quickly and did great," said Hannah Buessing, 8th grade.

The B-team also had a superb game. In the first quarter, they made a total of six points, while holding Falls City scoreless. The Thunder kept playing hard all through the second quarter. Falls City tried to pull ahead and they scored 4 points. But the Thunder added three points to their score keeping the lead. During the third quarter, both teams scored six, making the score 15-10, keeping the game close. In the fourth and final quarter, the Thunder scored 10 points, while their opponents scored 6. The final score was 26-16. The Thunder wins!

"They were very aggressive," said Mia Schmitz, 7th grade.

Both teams had a marvelous night. They are now working very hard to prepare for their final games.
