The 2017 Nemaha Central Spirit Week was January 23-27. The week consisted of five days with different themes the students could dress up on to show off their school spirit. Monday was Team Schnak Day, where the student wore their Team Schnak shirts. Kent Schnakenberg donated a t-shirt to every student and staff member in the building.  There was a lot of Team Schnak yellow in the building.  Tuesday the students dressed the same as a friend for Twin or Triplet Day. Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday, where everyone wore crazy clothes, such as socks, shirts, pants, and hats with multiple bright colors! On Thursday, NC students and faculty showed off their patriotism with red, white, and blue clothing. The Thunder had the opportunity to wear their pajamas on Friday to finish the fun-filled spirit week.

There was a prize given to the class, whose percentage of students who dressed up was highest. The prize was a can of soda for each student and some candy to share. The 6th grade class won the prize that week with 94 percent of the students dressing on Monday, 40 percent on Tuesday, 68 percent Wednesday, 87 percent Thursday, and 72 percent on Friday. The Thunder students had a great week filled with spirit!

The following week, students in all grades at NCEMS had a NC spirit day for the last basketball games in the Oregon Trail League tournament.  Everywhere you looked that day, students and staff were dressed in the school colors blue and purple.  It was a great day to be a Thunder Fan!

"It was fun," said Chasity Frye.
