The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School hosted a winter concert for New Generations, band, and choir on Monday, December 19. The New Generation group started off the night by playing Feliz Navidad, Never On a Sunday, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and Alpha Bossa all by Brad Shores. The New Generation group is made up of some 5th and 6th graders who spend time after school practicing on the steel drums.  The next group of performers were the 7th and 8th grade choir.  The choir also sang a variety of Christmas tunes starting off with Rockin' Around the Christmas, Jingle, Jingle, Jingle, The Christmas Song, A Holly Jolly Christmas, and Jingle Bell Rock.

"It was a great last concert for middle school," said Malissa Deters, 8th grade choir member.

After a short intermission, the band groups gathered their instruments and got ready to perform. The fifth grade band played in their first band concert tonight! They played the famous song, Jingle Bells, Hard Rock Blues, Up on the Housetop, and Jolly Old St. Nicholas.  The sixth grade band played O Come, All Ye Faithful and Good King Wenceslas. Finally the songs; O Tannenbaum and Christmas Bits and Pieces were played by the seventh and eighth grade band.

"We played well, but we could have done better," said William Pigg, an eighth grader.

The students did a nice job and the holiday tunes got the audience into the Christmas spirit! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
