On Thursday, December 15, the Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team hosted the basketball game against the Centrailia Panthers. The A-team girls started off with a good lead in the first quarter holding the Panthers scoreless.  The girls continued to play well increasing their score to 21 points to Centralia's 4.  At the end of the game the Panthers had more than doubled their points, they had 18 points, but the NC girls also scored several in the second half.   NC picked up the victory over Centralia 33-18.

"It was a great game and we all tried our hardest!" said 8th grader, Nyah Heinen

The B-team girls played the Panthers with great excitement and barely won the game. Centralia outscored the NC girls 5-8 in the first half.  Katelyn Ohlsen made an amazing 3 pointer in the second quarter that helped the Thunder keep the score close at half. In the third quarter, both teams only hit one shot so the NC girls were still down by 3 going into the final quarter.  The fourth quarter was a good defensive quarter for the Thunder as they kept the Panthers scoreless and managed to score 2 shots to claim the victory 11-10 over the Panthers.

"It was really exciting by the end and we were trusting Taryn Ganstrom to keep the possession of the ball and she succeeded!" said 7th grader, Mia Schmitz.
