On Monday, November 28, the Nemaha Central Kindergarten through 2nd grade held a Lyrics and Literacy night in the school gymnasium. The program for the night was put together by the help of Mrs.Theresa Steinlage, Mrs. Sara Nickoley, and Mrs. Angie Bass. The kindergartners started off the night by singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Up on the Housetop, and Christmas at the Hop. After they finished singing, students were able to take their family into their classroom and show them what they had been doing for the last couple of weeks. Some things that the students were working on include reading books called The Reindeer and Twas the Night Before Christmas, creating their own reindeer craft activity, and filling a sheet out about their pet reindeer.

"The students had a lot of fun singing songs and getting into the Christmas spirit!" said Mrs. Steinlage.

Next, the first graders started their performance and sang Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, and Deck, Deck, Decorate December. The tour of the classroom included their creative writing art project about living in a snow globe, also their teachers had all the students create a quilt of themselves snuggled in their bed!

First grader, Bailey Snyder said,  "It was fun and I really liked the songs!"

The last class to perform was the second graders. The  songs they sang were Feliz Navidad, Spirit of the Season, and Rock the Hall. The second graders had a fun time showing their friends and family what they did with their "How-to-Directions."
