The Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team played the Troy Trojans on Thursday, December 1. The first team to take the court was the NCMS B-team. The game started with the Thunder in possession of the ball. The Thunder had some trouble getting open for the pass and the Trojans stole the ball from the Thunder many times in the first half. The half ended with the Trojans in the lead, 4-10. In the second half, the Thunder ran their plays a little better and started taking more shots. They made a come back, but the Trojans kept the lead and went on to win the game 10-13.

"The other team gave us some good competition and I can't wait to play them again," said 7th grade player, Nadia Padilla.

Shortly after the B-team, the A-team started their warm-up. The Thunder A-team won the tip off and went in for an easy lay-up. The Thunder had many steals and fast breaks in the first quarter of the game. At the end of the first quarter, the Thunder was in the lead 12-4. NCMS continued adding points to their score and took a 20-10 lead into halftime. The second half was a little more easy-going. The Thunder stopped fast breaking and ran their plays. NCMS played excellent defense and got lots of rebounds. The Thunder defeated the Trojans, 32-15.

"We started and ended the game with outstanding defense and that's what I attribute our win to," said 8th grade player, Camryn Boykin.
