On Monday, November 14, the Nemaha Central Middle School basketball team started off their season playing the Onaga Buffaloes. The NCMS basketball team has sixteen amazing players. There are nine 7th grade girls and seven 8th grade girls. The team is coached by Ashley Carlson and assisted by Deb Kramer. The team has three wonderful managers, they are Riley Rottinghaus, Cierra Lambrecht, and Ravin Holcomb.

The NCMS Thunder A-team started their season off with a win against the Onaga Buffaloes. The Thunder A-team started the game by winning the tip off and scoring an instant basket. The Thunder had many great steals and fast breaks in the first half of the game. By the end of the first half the Thunder was in the lead, 26-4. In the second half the Thunder slowed down and focused on their passes and their shots. The Thunder played great defense in the second half which helped them defeat the Buffaloes, 51-8.

"Our first game was very exciting and a great learning experience," said 8th grader, Cassidy Corby.

The NCMS Thunder B-team also started the season off with a win. The Thunder B-team had a little trouble running their plays in the first half. The Thunder made up for their troubles by their great defense. The Thunder had many defensive rebounds and steals. The first half ended, 7-2, with the Thunder winning. The second half went more smoothly for the Thunder. They ran their plays very well and ended the game, 22-4.

"Our first game was a lot of fun and it got everyone excited for the rest of the season," said 7th grader, Savannah Engelken.
