The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team hosted a triangular against Wetmore and Troy on Thursday, September 15. The NCMS A-Team played Wetmore to start the night off. NCMS team had a great set with the score going back and forth with Wetmore and ended up winning the first set, 25-21. In the second set, Wetmore came back and battled even harder. Wetmore won the second set, which went into extra points, 25-27. After getting beat in the second set, the Thunder team forgot about all of their mistakes and went back out and played like they knew they could. The Thunder volleyball team was down, 19-21 in the third set. Kari Heideman went back to the serving line and served the next six points including two aces to win the set, 25-21.

After the tremendous battle against Wetmore, the Thunder had a little time to relax while Wetmore played Troy. When that game was over NCMS played Troy. NCMS had great passes, sets, hits, and ended the first set, 25-6. After crushing the Troy Trojans in the first set, the Trojans gave the Thunder a little more competition in the second set. The Thunder ended the match picking up their second win of the night, 25-15.

"We played very well and we were very excited to have won both games," said 8th grader, Hannah Buessing.

While the A-Team was playing, on the the other court the B-Team was hard at work playing against Wetmore. The B-Team started off the night by winning the first set, 25-18. The second set was not one of their best, there were many mistakes made, including serving errors and some troubles passing. Wetmore won that set, 14-25. The Thunder renewed themselves after the loss and won the next set, 15-12.

After that game the Thunder B-Team played Troy. They put up quite a battle up to the last few points of the first set, but Troy overpowered them and won, 26-28. The Thunder struggled in the second set. Their serves were going out of bounds, their hits were going in the net, and balls were hitting the ground. NCMS lost that set, 15-25, giving Troy the win.

"We have been working hard in practice, and winning was a big moment for us. We were excited and pumped for the next game, but even though we lost, we still had a great time," said 7th grader, Rachel Schmitz.
