The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team kicked off their season on Thursday, September 1 against Rossville. The NC Thunder team has eleven 7th grade girls and twelve 8th grade girls on the team. The team is coached by Nikki Honeyman and assisted by Deb Kramer. The team also has two great managers, Ella Larkin and Addy Holthaus.

The night started off with the 7th grade A-team and the 8th grade B-team taking the court first. The 7th grade A-team were defeated by the Rossville Bulldogs in 2 straight sets, 15-25 and 15-25. The 8th grade B team had a successful night with a win for both games, 25-18 and 25-11. The last match of the night was the 8th grade A-team. The girls started out a little shaky losing the first one, 17-25. The team rallied back in second game but came up short losing, 22-25.

"We could have played a better game, but it was still a good one," said Savannah Engelken, 7th grade.

Cassidy Corby, an 8th grader said, "The second match was better than the first."

Even though the volleyball team didn't leave with all wins, the team still had fun and learned a lot.
