June 25, 2014 Special BOE Meeting

The year-end meeting for Fiscal Year 2014 was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Supt. Kohlman presented information on the anticipated financial condition of the district at the end of the fiscal year. Projected unencumbered cash balances in the various funds were reviewed and compared to the end of last fiscal year. Expected transfers from the general fund and supplemental general fund were shared with the board members. The total transfers from the general fund will be about $7,000 less than last fiscal year and the transfers from supplemental general fund will be $76,000 more. These transfers will retain strong balances in the State PreK, K-12 At-Risk, Food Service, Professional Development, USD 115 Special Education Coop and the Vocational Education funds. The board authorized the Supt. and Clerk to make the necessary transfers to close out the fiscal year on June 30.

Supt. Kohlman reported that he had been contacted by a representative from the historical society and they are interested in working with district in preserving the history of both prior schools; and that they would like to have a representative on the committee. Volunteers for the committee have been Jon Thomas, Mike Terpening and Tracy Rusche. Mr. Kohlman had been contacted by persons from the former B&B district who suggested that there be two committees – one for each of the prior schools. Member Jason Hammes stated that in his opinion there should be one committee from the start and that committee should decide what is going to be publicly displayed. Anything that is not going to be publicly displayed could be the decision of separate committees. It was the consensus of the board that one committee needs to be formed to decide what is to be displayed publicly and that Supt. Kohlman make that recommendation to the board at a future meeting.

Resignations from Roger Schmelzle and Wendy Roever were approved. A paraprofessional contract was approved for Tiffany Kramer at NCEMS. A resolution authorizing destruction of old records was also approved.

The first meeting for the new fiscal year will be July 14 at 7:00 p.m.
